COVID-19 PHASE 2

There was good news for the country on Friday as more of the rules regarding the Covid 19 pandemic being eased. It is great to see many more people returning to work as business premises open their doors to the public. However, there will be many changes in the way we previously did our shopping and its looks like it will be a while yet before we return to normality. People are still being advised to heed the Public Health advise. It is now hoped to have some GAA club activity in July while the inter county games are scheduled for October and we could be watching the All Ireland finals during Christmas.

PARISH MASS

The Saturday evening Mass continues to ne streamed live on the parish Facebook page at 6pm and on the parish website at 7pm. The rosary is also recited daily at 7.30pm, and will include a Novena during the month of June. As there is no set date for our churches to reopen for public celebrations this is a valuable service which attracts a large audience from and abroad.

RECENT DEATH

It was a sad week for our parish as we came to terms of the sudden death of Peter O Mahony, Caherlevoy, Mountcollins. It is hard to imagine that Peter has been taken from us at such a young age as we admired him as a vibrant and outgoing individual. He had a keen interest in fitness and was big into running and cycling. He was also involved with the local GAA club at underage level where he helped to coach the under 6 team.

Due to the restrictions on large gatherings Peter’s funeral was confined to family only. Large crowds paid their respects by lining the route from his home as the cortege made its way through Knockulcare, The Village and the Lower Road on the way to St. Patrick’s Church, Tournafulla. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr. Mullane and was streamed live on the internet.

Sympathy is extended to his partner Caroline, children Ethan, Chloe and Cian, his parents Peter and Nora, sister Ita and brother Seán, the extended O Mahony family and Peter’s large circle of friends. May his gentle Soul Rest
