RESTRICTION RELIEF

There was a general sense of relief on hearing the announcements on Friday last concerning the lifting of some of the Covid-19 restrictions. People will now be able to travel a little further afield, to anywhere in the home county or to a destination in a neighbouring county within a 20km from home. People will welcome the opening of retail outlets, playgrounds, outdoor Summer camps etc but must obey the restrictions going with these. Now groups of up to six can meet up while observing social distancing while the over 70s can welcome up to four visitors to their homes but keeping to the distancing rules.

It has been rather difficult for many people since on March 12 when the government announced the closing of schools, colleges, childcare facilities, cultural institutions and a ban on mass gatherings. The adherence to the guidelines during that period has enabled the latest lifting of restrictions and all will look forward to further easing of regulations on June 29 with the opening of churches, hotels, cafes, restaurants, pubs serving food and caravan parks.

CÚRSAÍ EAGLAISE

Sunday last was the Feast of the Holy Trinity to whom our parish church is dedicated. The weekend mass for the three parishes was celebrated on Saturday evening, the vigil of the feast, and was relayed live via Facebook with the recording available later on the three parishes website. Among those remembered in the mass was Mairéad Leahy Leahy, Glenshesk (Anniversary), Jimmy Heffernan, Abbeyfeale & Gortnagloss (Anniversary), Kitty Daly, Berna (Month’s Mind). Beannacht Dé ar anamacha na marbh. A novena to the Sacred Heart and rosary takes place on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm during the month of June and goes out live on the church radio system and Facebook page. For arranging anniversaries and mass intentions contact parish sacristan, Noreen, at 0872489113. Signed Mass Cards are available through the sacristans in the three parishes and also from Helen in the Tournafulla shop on Mondays, 12 noon to 2pm.

GLÓR NA NGAEL

Cúpla seanfhocail: An té a bhíonn thuas óltar deoc air, an té a bhíonn thíos buailtear cos air ( the person that is successful is toasted with a drink while the person down in his luck is trodden on), Nuair a bhíonn an t-ól istigh bhíonn an chiall amuigh (when drink is in, sense is out), Is fear beagán cabhrach ná mórán trua ( a little help is better than a lot of sympathy)
