Tony’s light show delivers whopping Christmas present
WHAT never fails to blow us away here in The Kerryman is the sheer generosity of the people in the local communities who, year on year, go above and beyond their call of duty to help out those less fortunate.
One such person who rises to the occasion every year is Templeglantine man Tony Noonan, whose house you may recognise from Christmas time every year, when it lights up spectacularly in aid of different charities.
Well, Christmas 2019 was no different as Tony’s house once again became a small beacon of light for his six chosen charities of: Milford Care Centre, Cry Monagea, Brothers of Charity Foynes, the Adare Alzheimer’s Branch, Recovery Haven Tralee and finally, The Brothers of Charity in Newcastle West.
Now, this week, Tony was delighted to finally be able to inform us that he had successfully raised a whopping €25,247 for those six groups.
“Everyone here at Noonan Christmas lights would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas lights for charity fundraising event,” said Tony this week.
“Due to COVID-19, we were obviously unable to have our usual cheque presentation with the charities present, so instead we have posted out the donations to each group,” he continued.
“So again, many, many thanks to everyone for their continued support and generosity for what we do,” he said.
It was not the only good news that Tony and his team of helpers received this year as, earlier in the year, they were crowned the All-Ireland winners for the best Christmas Lights for Charity house in Ireland, winning €3000 in the process.
