‘Cosaí’ Fitzgerald is Mayor of Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne
IT was a case of ‘from one Fitzgerald to another’ on Thursday as Fine Gael Councillor Seamus ‘Cosaí’ Fitzgerald accepted the Castleisland- Corca Dhuibhne chain of office from Dingle-based Fianna Fáil Councillor Breandán Fitzgerald.
Cllr ‘Cosaí’ Fitzgerald accepted the role of district Cathaoirleach at last Thursday’s Castleisland- Corca Dhuibhne Annual General Meeting in Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne, Dingle, just a few miles east of his home parish, na Gleannta.
The former Mayor of Kerry has been a Councillor since 1999, and another long-serving Councillor and party colleague, Bobby O’Connell, will serve as Leas- Cathaoirleach.
After accepting the role, Cllr ‘Cosaí’ Fitzgerald said he was looking forward to playing his part in helping the district bounce back from what has been an extremely challenging year so far, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said he looked forward to working with Council colleagues and management to help progress projects in the district as the rebound gets underway in earnest.
