Acclaimed seanchaí to tell his own story in new book

WIDELY acclaimed actor, storyteller and seanchai, Eamon Kelly has written his autobiography, ‘ The Apprentice’, which wil be published in the autumn. The title stems from the fact that Kelly was once apprenticed to his father, a wheelwright and master craftsman.
Eamon was born in Glenfiesk in 1914 and began his theatrical career as. Christy McMahon in an amateur production of ‘ The Playboy of the Western World’ starring alongside his future wife Maura O’Sullivan.
Kelly played on Broadway for many months. He has also created and performed a number of one-man shows, including ‘Bless me Father’ and ‘According to Custom’. He remains one of Ireland’s leading actors and recently appeared in a Manchester production of ‘Boucicalt’.
