WITH the establishment of Munster Technological University (MTU), there has never been a more exciting time to study in Kerry. The Kerry Campus of Munster Technological University will offer over 45 full time undergraduate courses for CAO entry in September 2021. Courses cover a diverse range of disciplines including Creative Media, Software Development, Business, Nursing, Social Sciences, Health & Leisure, Engineering, Wildlife Biology, Agricultural Science and Pharmaceutical Science.

Commenting on the range of courses, Aileen Kennedy, Vice President Academic Affairs and Registrar said, “Our new university prides itself on the quality and relevance of its academic programmes and our continuous course development. Each of our courses is developed in close consultation with industry, resulting in relevant and career-focused qualifications for graduates.”

MTU ensures that students are at the core of its activities with a dedicated team of student support services, while the town of Tralee offers high quality recreation and leisure facilities. An integral part of the many programmes on offer for CAO applicants is work placement and industry projects, which allow students to experience authentic work scenarios. This experience results in work-ready graduates with over 90% of our honours degree graduates securing work or pursuing further education opportunities such as Master or PhD studies within six months of graduating.

Brid Mc Elligott, Vice-President, for Research, Development and External Engagement outlined that the work-placement element of all Honours Degree courses, coupled with the globally recognised qualification from a university, provides students with an excellent opportunity as they consider their CAO applications for February 1st.

“Work experience combined with the curriculum delivered by our committed and dedicated academic team ensures that the graduates of Munster Technological University are work-ready, with excellent career opportunities available regionally, nationally and internationally. Our new status as a technological university means that students are making a wise decision when choosing MTU Kerry as their third level destination”

President of Munster Technological University, Professor Maggie Cusack welcomed the establishment of MTU “The 1st January 2021 marked the culmination of many years of planning, preparation and hard work which has resulted in Munster Technological University coming into existence. MTU’s mission is to lead change and, through education, empower people for a successful future in a globalised world. I look forward to working with my MTU colleagues at this exciting and profoundly important time for staff, students, and all stakeholders to maximise the opportunities of a technological university to bring educational, economic and social benefit to the region for generations to come.”
