WALKING TRACK: We are allowed to keep our walking track open at present for the community. We would ask that at all times please exercise proper social distancing measures and to ensure that large gatherings do not occur. Stay safe. LISTRY GAA 1970 ANNIVERSARY PROGRAMME: The club have put together a commemorative program that will take you on a trip down memory lane, to look back and reminisce on a famous August day 50 years ago, when the Listry football team of 1970 became kingpins of East Kerry and the first team in the clubs history to win the O’Donoghue Cup (East Kerry Championship). It is a club record that has not been matched to this day and is fondly remembered by the people of the parish. We have gathered memories and newspaper archives from that famous year and put them together with player profiles and accounts of life in the parish at the time. It was an exciting year for the parish, a new church had just been built at Listry cross, the club was working on purchasing its own field at Faha cross, the mart in Milltown was expanding to meet the demands of a vibrant and flourishing farming community and parish was thriving with life. We hope this commemorative programme will give you a sense what life in the community was like at the time and maybe it will stir some find memories and stories that our older generation can pass onto our youngsters and inspire the next generation!! The special commemorative publication can be got at Michael O’ Sullivan’s shop at Beaufort Bridge or from Paul Kennedy by email listry1970@gmail.com SYMPATHY: Listry GAA would like to send deepest sympathy to Siobhan Giles and the Gleeson family, Clonkeen on the recent death of her brother Maurice Gleeson RIP.
