PROCEEDS from Killarney Rotary Club’s wine and art evening were presented to a number of local causes at The Malton Hotel last week.
Approximately €25,000 was generated by last year’s event which took place in The Malton on November 24 and 30 percent of the commission from the sales of the artwork goes to charity.
Last Wednesday the money was handed over to Kerry Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre as well as to projects at St Oliver’s NS and St Francis’ Special School, Beaufort. Other charities benefiting included Kerry Stars Special Olympics Club, Irish Pilgrimage Trust (IHCPT), the Cheshire Home and the Killarney branch of the Friends of the Children of Chernobyl.
“We were very happy with the night and are delighted to be associated with the good works that these organisations do,” Killarney Rotary Club President Seán Treacy stated.
Eighty artists showcased their work on the evening and a competitive auction also took place on the night, with proceeds of all lots being donated to the charities.
