New programme of events is hot topic at Community Games national AGM
THE HSE Community Games National AGM was held in Limerick last weekend over three days where many important issues were discussed in relation to the viable future of our organisation going forward where in these difficult economic times the development of activities for children is again becoming ever increasingly necessary, not only nationally but more importantly in our local communities.
The hot topic of the weekend was most definitely the new programme of events to be introduced in 2013, which provoked much debate from the large number of delegates present. All concurred that Community Games had a large number of events to organise each year at local, county, Munster and national level and these had to be slim-lined and changed in order to enhance our profile going forward. Hence, the new programme of events were accepted and these can be viewed on the HSE Community Games website, but remember these will not come into effect until 2013.
In the elections our county secretary, Margaret Culloty, was again unanimously elected to the national board of directors where Kerry will no doubt have a strong voice as has been proven in the years gone by.
The boys and girls handball took place on Monday night last and results will be published next week.
The closing dates for the following events will take place on this Thursday March 1: Projects, Choir, Set Dancing, Cultural Corner & Drama and Recitation, although there may be a change of dates for competition it is imperative that all entries are received on this Thursday.
Kerry Community Games would like to congratulate the Ballydonoghue music group on winning the All-ireland Scor na nóg competition held recently in Castlebar. All of whose members have previously competed in community games. Best of luck also to all the talented children that will be competing in the Scor na bpaisti competitions shortly.
