Chloe O’ Connor and Elaine O’ Donoghue were members of the Kerry U14 Girls team that played Kildare in the All-Ireland Final on Saturday in Nenagh.

DEATHS

The death has taken place of Michael Curtin, Ballinilla­ne, Ballyhar. The removal was from O’Connor’s Funeral Home to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Ballyhar and after Requiem Mass on Saturday to Aghadoe Cemetery.

Sympathy is extended to his sister in law, brothers in law, brother, sisters, relatives and friends.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The Munster finals took place in University of Limerick on Sat 2nd July. This was a huge event in the Community Games calendar with events ranging from badminton, basketball, camogie,chess, draughts, futsal, Gaelic, hurling, soccer, rounders, skittles, spike ball, table tennis and tag rugby. Firies were representi­ng Kerry in U14 skittles competitio­n. In the Munster semi final they played Limerick and this was a very close, nail biting competitio­n with Firies winning and going through to final against Tipperary. Tipperary proved a very strong side winning the competitio­n. Firies picked up the silver medals. The children really enjoyed their day out and had great fun along the way. Congratula­tions to team of Ciara Kearney, Cian Sheahan, Denis Cremin, Rachel Murphy, Laura O Connor, Daniel Cremin and Patrick Kearney. The team was managed and trained by Carmel Sheahan. Well done to all the children who took part and to all the parents who helped out in any way. The best of luck to all the children taking part in the Community Games finals in Athlone in August.
