AQUILA CLUB FR GALVIN CUP Fossa 2-14 Scartaglin 1-3

FOSSA progressed to the Final of the Fr Galvin Cup, Intermediate Championship, with victory against Scartaglin, in Fossa.

Fossa opened strongly, when Tadgh O’Shea took a precision pass from Mikey O’Shea and rattled the net three minutes into the game. The home side dominated and were denied a goal when the Scartaglin keeper made a great save from a point blank range.

Scartaglin settled, scoring a pointed free before Brian Hanrahan rounded the keeper to goal on the twelfth minute. However, Fossa equalised with a Mike O’Keeffe point from play fourteen minutes into the game, 1-1 a piece.

The home side pulled ahead in the second quarter with six unanswered points, four frees by Tadgh O’Shea and two by captain Domnhaill O’Sullivan. Half-time score: Fossa 1-7 Scartaglin 1-1.

Fossa dominated the scoring in second half, notched up two points without reply and put the result beyond doubt when Tadgh O’Shea converted a penalty on the sixth minute, 2-9 to 1-1.

Scartaglin pressed forward repeatedly, but the Fossa defence was strong. There were a scatter of points, with Tadgh O’Shea pointing frees from distance and difficult angles, Domnhaill O’Sullivan and Kevin McCarthy on target for the home side.

Mike Horan and Denis Lenihan pointed frees for Scartaglin and the visitors keeper made a great save, again denying the home side a goal. The man of the match award was presented to Fossa’s Daniel O’Keeffe by East Kerry Committee Chairman Tim Ryan.
