Brookfield College an important player in education

-

IN many ways it seems appropriate that Brookfield College should be located at the point of entry to Monavalley Industrial Estate, for Brookfield has long served as a ‘gateway’ for students looking to fulfil their educational potential. Brookfield College remains a popular focal point for students looking to sharpen their study focus where a team of experienced teachers work closely with them to maximise their potential.

“We offer full-time 5th and 6th year programmes and we’re currently enrolling students at the moment,” said Elisha Dowling, Principal of Brookfield College.

“Grinds and supervised study courses are the main areas we cover and we cater for about 130 students at the college and the teachers here are very experienced and work extremely hard as we cover most subjects at Leaving Cert level.”

The genesis of Brookfield College started way back in 1988 when Elisa first opened the ‘Tralee Tuition Centre’ in his native Rock Street and the story ever since has been one of duel expansion, both in terms of location and in the range of services available to students. To properly reflect this contribution to quality second level education in Kerry, the name ‘Brookfield College’ was added in 2003.

“We moved from Collis Sands to our new premises here in Monavalley and we’re now heading into our third year here. We now enjoy state of the art facilities that include a modern science laboratory, home economics and art room. The classes are small so students get lots of individual attention and regular assessments in an atmosphere in which they are expected and encouraged to perform.”

Elisha continued: “Monavalley is now a very active and vibrant centre and where we’re located, just at the entrance, is very much an education hub with the KETB just across the road from us; so there’s certainly a big educational aspect to education in Monavalley.”
