WATER SAFETY LESSONS

Irish Water Safety will be holding swimming and water safety lessons in Derrynane.

The swimming lessons begin on Monday August 1st. Registrati­on takes place at the Derrynane Pier at 9.30a.m on Monday 1sth.

The Water Safety lesssons, which include Survival, Basic Life Support and Rescue, commence on Monday August 8t h . Registrati­on will take place in the Caherdanie­l Hall on Monday 8th at 9.30a.m All are welcome.

MARRIAGES

Fr Niall Howard officiated at the marriage of Aoife, daughter of Paddy and Mary O’ Sullivan of Cappnagrow­n and Paul son of Frances and the late Jimmy Doyle, Dooradoyle, Limerick in the Church of the Resurrecti­on Killarney on Saturday July 2nd. Siobhan O’ Sullivan was bridesmaid and Paul Clohessy was bestman. The reception was held in the Killarney Oaks Hotel and the newlyweds will live in Clarina, Limerick .

Congratula­tions and best wishes to Deirdre, daughter of Brendan and Bridie O’Sullivan, Derriniden and Diarmuid, son of Brian and Eithne O’Riordan, Kealafreha­ne who were married on Saturday 9th July in Our Lady of the Valley Church by the brides uncle Fr. Michael Curran and held their reception in the Sneem Hotel.

We wish both couples long and happy marriages.

DEATHS

Debbie O’ Shea, nee O’ Connor, of Granafulla and late of Boston and Cahercivee­n died peacefully in St. Anne’s Hospice Cahercivee­n on Tuesday July 12th. Her remains were removed from Fitzgerald Funeral Home to St Finians Church on Wednesday evening and she was laid to rest in Dromid Cemetery with her late parents after 11 a.m. Mass celebrated by Fr Gerard Finucane P.P. Roisin Ryan sang at Mass. Debbie is survived by her husband Sean, sons Kieran and Sean Donal, daughters-in-law, two grandchild­ren, sisters Noreen (Cahercivee­n) and Mary (Farranfore), relatives, neighbours, carers and friends to whom we offer our sincere sympathy.

Michael Courtney of Spunkane died peacefully in Kerry University Hospital Tralee on Tuesday July 12th. His remains were removed from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home to St Finians Church on Thursday evening and laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery after 11 a.m. Mass celebrated by Fr. Gerard Finucane P.P. and Fr David Gunn P.P. Ballinskel­ligs. Marion O’ Neill sang at Mass. Predecease­d by his wife Joan, nee Foley, in 1997 and daughter-in-law Bernie nee Devane, Michael is survived by his son Haulie, daughters Mary Val, Carol, Helen and Joanie, sonsin-law, grandchild­ren, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom we offer our sincere sympathy.

Sincere sympathy to Paddy Shea, Caherbarna and to his sisters on the death of their sister Bridie Fitzgerald, nee O’Shea, wife of the late Jackie Fitzgerald of Glenmore whose Funeral will take place in England.

Sincere sympathy to Sheila O’ Shea of Derrinedin on the death of her nephew Michael in London. His remains were removed from Cork Airport and from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home to St Finian’s Church on Thursday evening, 23rd July. He was laid to rest in the in the adjoining cemetery after 11 a.m. Mass on Friday. Son of the late Nora, nee O’Shea of Derrinedin and John O’ Shea Kenmare. Michael is also survived by his brother Jeremiah (London) and aunt Debbie (London) and his many cousins.

BUS SERVICE

Local Link Kerry offers a bus service leaving Waterville at 09.00 (every Friday & Saturday) with a return time from Cahercivee­n to Waterville at 11.35 (every Friday, Saturday & Sunday)

There is also a 14.00 bus from Waterville to Killorglin stopping in Cahercivee­n, Glenbeigh and Killorglin (every Friday, Saturday & Sunday). The buses are timed to meet the Bus Eireann Route 279a to and from Killarney.
