ACTIVE RETIRED GROUP

Scartaglin Active Retired Group went on their annual outing on Thursday, July 21st when they took in a visit to Kate Kearney’s Cottage, where they were entertaine­d by the “Singing Jarveys” and later they had lunch at “The Coffee Pot”.

Some members of the group also travelled with the Scartaglin Ladies Group on their annual outing which this year was to the Beara Peninsula and took place on Thursday last, July 28th.

TROCAIRE APPEAL

Trocaire, the Internatio­nal Relief Agency is launching and Emergency appeal to the people of Ireland to raise money for the very serious and dire situation in East and South Africa and in countries in Central America.

Severe droughts are affecting those areas and are causing havoc and devastatio­n where food production is concerned. Anyone who would like to donate to Trocaire’s Emergency Appeal can do so by going online at trocaire.org/donate or by contacting 1850 408408.

IRISH HEART FOUNDATION

The Irish Heart Foundation Annual church gate collection held recently in Scartaglen raised a sum of E310. A special word of thanks to all who contribute­d to this collection and to those who helped to take it up.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions and all best wishes are extended to Michael Horan son of Margaret and Tony Horan of Knockeenah­one and Máire McEllistri­m daughter of Catherine and Tim of Ballylongf­ord who were married recently in Ballylongf­ord Church. The celebrant of the nuptial mass was Fr. Padraig Kennelly assisted by Fr. Lawlor. Michael and Máire held their reception in the Killarney Oaks Hotel and the couple will reside in Glountane, Cordal.

Congratula­tions and all best wished also are extended to Sinead O Driscoll daughter of Carmel and Jerome O Driscoll of Scartaglen Village and Colm Reidy son of Noreen and Tommy Reidy of Glenlarhan, Cordal who were married on Friday last in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Scartaglen. The celebrant of the nuptial mass was Fr John Kerin. Sinead and Colm held their reception in the Ballygarry House Hotel Tralee and they will reside in Castleisla­nd.

KERRY PARENTS AND FRIENDS

The annual church gate collection for the Kerry Parents and Friends Associatio­n will be taken up at mass this weekend. Your generous support would be much appreciate­d.
