The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Vintage weekend in Abbeydorney
ORGANISERS of this weekend’s Abbeydorney Vintage festival have lined up another great programme of entertainment, kicking off this Saturday evening with a vintage car and tractor run from the vintage field at 5.30pm.
The cars will traverse the byroads of north Kerry, stopping at Baron’s Bunker for refreshments, while the tractors will travel via Ballyroe, with a stop off at the local hotel for some well–earned beverages.
Those taking part in each run will be included in a special participants’ raffle that will take place during their respective stop-offs, before everyone returns to the vintage field for a barbecue, followed by music in all the local hostelries.
On Sunday, the vintage show gets underway at 12 noon, featuring some great entertainment for all the family including car, tractor and steam engine displays, a dog show at 3pm, a tractor pull at 4pm and fire engine rides throughout the day.
Visitors can also look forward to a selection of stalls, auto jumble and a fun fair for the little ones with McCormack’s Amusements of Kilkenny.
Local DJ, Big Jim, will keep the masses entertained in the vintage field throughout the day and there will also be some great gate prizes up for grabs.
Proceeds from the weekend’s activities will go towards three deserving charity groups – the Kerry Parents and Friends Association; Abbeydorney Playground Committee and Cystic Fibrosis charity, TLC4CF.
