All eyes on Kerry Rose Danielle

KILLARNEY WOMAN GETS READY TO FLY THE KERRY FLAG IN THE DOME

- By SIMON BROUDER

SO the waiting is finally over for Kerry Rose Danielle O’Sullivan.

The 23-year-old Killarney law student and her fellow Roses arrived back to the Kingdom on Tuesday evening after a whirlwind tour of Ireland.

Danielle – who was put forward for the Kerry Rose competition by her employers The Grand in Killarney – said she’s delighted to be back on home turf and can’t wait for the festivities to kick off in earnest.

It’s been a hectic few month’s for Danielle who has been kept busy preparing for the Rose since was selected back in May.

Given she’s the Kerry Rose her schedule has been particularly packed but she said she’s all organised and has thoroughly enjoyed flying the flag for The Kingdom.

“I had to be super organised because I tend to be very disorganised in general. I’ve had a checklist of what I need for every single event. I genuinely have a spreadsheet made out with what I’m wearing every day!” Danielle said.

“I’ve been lucky I’ve gotten some great sponsorship and support in Kerry so It’s been really great and so I’m well sorted now,” she said.

For those wondering Swamp in Tralee have provided Danielle’s outfits; Miliner Carol Kennelly is sponsoring her hats and headdresses; Annburys boutique have also provided a hat and Cathriona’s hair salon are taking care of Danielle’s hair.

“I’ve been busy but it’s really helped with getting me into the flow of it all. Since May every week there’s been a launch for a charity or a photo opportunity or something . One of my favourites was I was there for the start of the Ring of Kerry cycle. That was lovely and there was such a buzz,” said Danielle.

As the Kerry Rose Danielle has a bye into the televised selection nights and so she is the only Rose who does not have to take part in the two qualifying rounds.

Some have feared this may actually be a disadvantage for Danielle but Kerry’s Rose isn’t too concerned having already encountered TV compère Dáithí O’Sé at the Kerry selection in May.

“I’m not too worried about that. I’m lucky in that at my selection we had Dáithí hosting anyway so I’ve had that experience,” she said.

“That was like a mini little qualifier for me. Anyway I’ ll be there at the qualifying night supporting the girls too so I’ll have a very good idea what’s going on,” said Danielle.
