TOP DOG SHEP SNIFFS OUT ‘NOSE OF TRALEE’ TITLE

- By STEPHEN FERNANE

EVEN the dogs in the street are talking about this one. Shep, the dog from Kenmare, is busier than he has ever been right now preparing for the ‘Nose of Tralee’ competition, and he must be barking mad taking time out from his hectic schedule looking after calves and donkeys on his farm in Kenmare.

But by all accounts Shep is well able to sniff out an opportunity and the campaign trail has been a busy one.

Shep’s election campaign involves plenty of walking and canvassing and he has met with local politicians, Kerry footballers and many more people as he tries to fetch votes. The competition sees pets from Ireland’s 32 counties vying for the title, so it’s vital you get behind Shep as he flies the flag for Kerry.

With just a week to go, Shep’s owner, Mary O’Leary, is urging people to vote for him and help secure an All-Ireland title for Kerry.

“We must get people to vote as it’s an All-Ireland title. He won the Kerry competition with the most amount of ‘Likes’ on his Facebook page.

But now people have to log on to the site and cast their vote. Shep met with the Kerry team on Saturday and they signed his jersey, so it’s all systems go for him,” explained Mary. All you have to do to vote for Shep is visit http://wshe.es/InIYgN4q, enter your email address and confirm it in your emails.

The competition runs until August 22 and you can follow Shep’s campaign on Facebook as he looks to win an All-Ireland title for the Kingdom.
