SO, WHAT’S HAPPENING ON DENNY STREET?

-

WHILE most of the festival’s headline concerts will be taking place in the Town Square there will still be plenty of entertainment on Denny Street.

There has been a degree of confusion as to exactly what entertainment will be taking place outside the Square and the street festival’s organisers have stressed that there will be plenty to see and do on Denny Street.

A particular highlight will be a light show that will illuminate the imposing facade of the Ashe Memorial Hall for the first three nights of the festival.

“If you enjoyed watching Buckingham Palace come to life through the magic of light during Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, then you won’t want to miss the spectacular Illumination of Ashe Memorial Hall,” say the street festival’s organisers.

The light show – which promises to be very impressive– will be beamed onto the front of the Ashe Hall from 10pm to midnight on Wednesday August 17, Thursday august 18 and Friday August 19.

It will celebrate Tralee’s 800 year history, the 1916 Rising Centenary and 57 years of the Rose of Tralee.

There will also be musical entertainment for revellers to enjoy on Denny Street throughout the seven days of the extended festival.

The festival organisers have arranged for concerts at both ends of Denny Street and a stage will be located in front of the Ashe Memorial Hall for the three parades on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday.

This stage will also be used for free concerts by the Garda Band and the Willis Clan on Sunday August 21.

At the top of Denny Street – at the junction with Castle Street – there will also be a small pop-up stage hosting a variety of up and coming and established Irish bands who’ ll be belting out the hits and keeping festival goers entertained from 9.30pm to midnight on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday.

So, as you can see, there will be lots to enjoy on Denny Street.
