The organisers of the Ballinskelligs three Beach Challenge would like to thank all who participated in the Ballinskelligs three Beach Challenge on Sunday, August 7. Your participation ensured that it was a great success, just over 200 entrants registered for the event and together with donations on the day €1,734

was raised for the Donal Walsh Foundation and Ballinskelligs Community Care. This was the biggest turnout since the event began three years ago and it seems to be going from strength to strength. The organisers wish to thank all who volunteered their time on the day to help steward and assist in the registration; it couldn’t have been the success it was without this. Many thanks to the main sponsor Kevin O’Sullivan of Cable O’Leary’s Bar, Skellig Chocolates, A Time to Party Bouncy Castles, Killorglin and Delpac. Thanks to Fionnbarr and Elma Walsh for providing the trophies and taking the time to come down and do the challenge.

COMMUNITY EMPOLYMENT VACANCY BALLINSKELLIGS

A Food preparation assistant is required in the Ballinskelligs Community Centre, Dungeagan, 19.5 hours per week. Duties to include: helping to prepare and serve meals, clear and clean kitchen and dining room. There will be some secretarial work to include, Typing internet access and answering telephone. This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. A knowledge of the Irish language would be an advantage. There will be live music with Clare Horgan, John Browne and Paddy Casey every Wednesday in July and August at Tig Rosie’s, in Dungeagan, Ballinskelligs.

NEW LOCAL LINK BUS SERVICE

Local Link Kerry offers a bus service leaving Waterville at 09.00 (every Friday and Saturday) with a return time from Caherciveen to Waterville at 11.35 (every Friday, Saturday)

There is also a 14.00 bus from Waterville to Killorglin stopping in Caherciveen, Glenbeigh and Killorglin (every Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The buses are timed to meet the Bus Eireann Route 279a to and from Killarney.

ANIMATION WORKSHOP WITH RORY FELLOWES

A three day course in the Art of Animation at the Halla Pobal (Community Centre) Dungeagan, Baile An Sceilg. Day 1: The History, Principles and Techniques of Animation 10.00 p.m. to 3 p.m. Day 2: Preparing an Animation 10.00 p.m. to 5 p.m. (or thereabouts) Day three Making a short film 10.00 till you finish. Adults €40 per day. If you attend all three days the last day costs only €20. Under-18s €20 per day. As above last day €10. Rory Fellowes spent 40 years in the animation industry.
