Step out and walk for Amy this weekend

-

SO far there has been a huge effort across all sectors of the community to help raise funds for nine-year-old Amy O’Connor who is bravely battling cancer and this weekend marks another key event.

Amy is having a tough time as she continues her treatment in Crumlin’s Children’s Hospital but it’s extremely uplifting for Amy’s family to know so many people are in her corner helping to raise much needed funds for her treatment.

The walk takes place this Saturday, August 27, at 10am and starts at The Gleneagle before making its way to Muckross Abbey and back again for some well-earned refreshments.

It promises to be a fun day and the expressions of community spirit and solidarity for Amy is something which has given the O’Connor family a huge boost.

“It just shows that when times get tough people pull together and that’s hugely important at times like this,” said Emma O’Connor, Amy’s aunt.

“The O’Connor family would be very involved in the community and this walk is organised by local sports clubs such as Crokes and the Killarney Celtic and Athletic clubs, as Amy and her brother Cian are very involved in their sports.

“Everyone is welcome to come along on the day,” added Emma.

Saturday’s walk follows last month’s Shave for Amy, held in the K-Town Bar, which also included an impressive charity auction to help boster funds raised.
