Minors get September 3 date in Semple

THE Kerry minor hurlers will play Meath in the final of the All-Ireland minor ‘B’ championsh­ip [Corn Peadar Ó Liatháin] on Saturday week, September 3. Venue will be Semple Stadium, Thurles, where there will be a 2pm throw in. Kerry will be aiming for their fifth title ina-row at this level.

Minor Final

LIXNAW and Crotta O’Neill’s will contest the 2016 Keane’s SuperValu Killorglin County minor championsh­ip final.

In last Saturday’s semi-finals, Crotta had a 1-8 to 0-10 win over St Brendan’s while Lixnaw defeated Causeway by 1-16 to 0-8. The final will be the curtain raiser to the co. senior final on September 11 and will have a 1:30 throw-in.

The senior final between Kilmoyley and Ballyduff will throw-in at 3:30pm.

Under 21 B

THE Kerry under 21 hurlers bowed out of the All-Ireland ‘B’ championsh­ip on Saturday last going under to Meath by 1-21 to 1-12 in the semi final at Trim. Meath now go on to play Mayo in the final.

County SHL

CONGRATULA­TIONS to Abbeydorne­y on winning the 2016 Credit Union County Senior hurling league Division 2 title.

In last Sunday’s final, played at Causeway, they had a 2-12 to 1-9 win over Kilmoyley. After the game, Gerard McCarthy, Oifigeach Iomána Coiste Chontae Chiarraí CLG presented the John O’Connor (Lady’s Walk) Cup to the team captain, Nigel Roche. The Man of the Match award went to Eoin Egan.

This was some consolatio­n for Abbeydorne­y because on the previous Thursday they had lost narrowly to Causeway, 1-17 to 1-15, in the final of the North Kerry Intermedia­te championsh­ip.

The County League Division 1 final between Causeway (holders) and Kilmoyley is fixed for this Friday at 7pm in Austin Stack Park with extra time if necessary.

Clubs

TO kick off and celebrate the All-Ireland Hurling Final weekend, Tralee Parnell’s will hold a ‘Big Blitz Day’ for hurling and camogie on Saturday week, September 3 at the John Mitchels GAA Complex. Further details on the Parnell’s Facebook page.

Tralee Parnell’s coaching programme continues at the Caherslee G.A.A. grounds every Friday from 7pm – 8pm. A special welcome for under 6 players, those born in 2010 and 2011. There will be no registrati­on fee for new members for the remainder of 2016 so all interested children are welcome to come and give hurling a try.
