-

Under-16s are through to the Div2 County Final following their win over Firies at a home semi-final last Wednesday. Teams in their group included Dingle, Glenflesk, Annascaul/Lispole, Churchill and Glenbeigh/ Glencar. Kenmare started off the stronger side with a goal coming from the throw in, Ben Crowley made no mistake from a well placed ball and buried it into the back of the net. Kenmare followed on with a point from Dan McCarthy before Firies registered a goal from a penalty. Tommy Cronin, Cian O’Connor, captain Griffin Lynch Wharton and Dylan O’Connor all registered scores for Kenmare while Firies scored two points from play and one from a free.

It was Firies who finished stronger sending two goals to the back of the net and scoring a point before half time to leave the score reading Kenmare 1-8 Firies 3-4. It was all to play for in the second half and Kenmare’s defence was strong with Eoin Downing, James McCarthy and Seán Lucey. On the half backline there was good defending from Cian O’Sullivan, Conor Lucey and Kane Reidy. Bojan Nikic worked well in the half forward line. Kenmare opened the score with a point but Firies responded immediately with the same. Kenmare gradually closed the gap and made changes that turned the game around. Scores coming from Cian and Dylan o Connor, Cian Hanley and Dan McCarthy who was now playing fullforward. Firies registered six points in the second half and were unfortunate when a penalty kick hit off the crossbar much to the relief of keeper David Ciu Ciu..Kenmare came away with a win, final score reading Kenmare 3-14 Firies 3-10. Best of luck to the boys and to the managment team of Noely Crowley, Paudi Randles and James Downing when they face Dingle in Fitzgerald’s Stadium in Killarney on Wednesday, August 24, at seven o’clock. Please support what should be a great encounter.

Under-11 East Kerry League – Congratulations to our under-11s who won all their games in the East Kerry League registering wins over Glenflesk away, at home to Kilcummin and Rathmore and their final game away to Fossa. Well done to all involved and to the management Tim Allman, Colm O’Connor and Séamus McGearailt.

Kenmare under-10s took part in the Milltown/Castlemaine Blitz in aid of the Anthony Morris Fund, Kenmare were delighted to be invited supporting such a good cause and equally were thrilled when David O’Connor accepted the C Final Shield on behalf of his team.

Best of luck to the Kerry senior and minor teams in their respective all-Ireland

semi-finals at the weekend. Seán O’Shea will captain the minors against Kildare in the opener while Stephen O’Brien and Templenoe man Tadgh Morley will feature in the big game against the Dubs. Both teams in the final would be fantastic.
