Played in wind swept Derrynane, this win ensures the home team are now in a great position to clinch one of the promotion places. Knocknagos­hel with the wind at their backs went into an early lead with three points from Niall Barrett, two frees and one from play and a fine effort from Mike Brosnan to lead by four points after 16 minutes. Sneem/Derrynane who were having difficulty with the tricky wind got their first score in the 19th minute courtesy of Denis Sullivan and was soon followed by two Mike Connor points and a Ronan Hussey free to tie the scores in the 24th minute. Another Mike Brosnan point put Knock back in the lead again but it was a lead that did not last long as the home team put a fine move together which was finished to the net by Ian Galvin. Mike Connor added a great point soon after before a Cillian O’Connor point for Knocknagos­hel closed the first half with Sneem/Derrynane ahead by 1-5 to 0-6.A Ronan Hussey free in the third minute was canceled by a Knocknagos­hel reply from Michael Walsh. Ian Galvin nudged the home team further ahead in the seventh minute. Another fine attacking move by Sneem/Derrynane ended with a Ronan Hussey goal in the 13th minute and this was soon followed by two Ian Galvin points and one from Mike Connor to put clear daylight between the teams. Ronan Hussey added two more points before the finish for Sneem/Derrynane before a final Knocknagos­hel point just before the sound of Referee Paul Sullivan’s whistle brought proceeding to a close. Sneem/Derrynane play Ballyduff in Derrynane next Saturday evening in a back game.
