Men’s club We had no competitio­n on Sunday as the Ladies Club were running an Open Classic.

Next Sunday is an 18 Hole Single Stableford competitio­n sponsored by Kirby’s Bar and Flahive’s Bar Ballyheigu­e. The Autumn League will also be run in conjunctio­n with this competitio­n and on Sept 4th, Sept 18th and Sept 25th. Teams of 5 players. Entry Fee €13 per person. 3 scores out of 5 to count on each of the 4 qualifying rounds. A fee of €7 will be payable on the four qualifying Sundays of the League as entry for the usual Sunday competitio­n. After the 4th qualifying round, the top 4 teams will qualify for the semi-finals which will be played on the morning of October 9. Final will take place in the afternoon.

Last Friday evening’s scramble was sponsored by Abbey Tavern, Ardfert: 1. John Maunsell, John Fitzgerald, Aidan Clifford. 2. Giles O’Grady, Edmond Harty, Philip Lucid, Maurice McElligott.

The last scramble of the year takes place this Friday at 6.30pm. 6.15pm for draw for partners. Next Fridays sponsor is Neilee Brouder, Ballyheigu­e.

The Nines of Kerry team played Ross in Ballyheigu­e last Thursday winning 4-1. James O’Dowd & Lorraine Canty Won 5 & 4. Enda O’Halloran & Ann Leahy Won 3 & 2. Maurice McElligott & Nora Quinlan Won 3 & 2. Joseph O’Connor & Steve Neillings were 1 Down after 16 Holes when called in. Kathleen Harty & Kathleen Gilbride Level after 13 Holes when called in. They will now play Castlegreg­ory in Killarney in the final, date TBA.

On Saturday the John B O’Shea Trophy was played for in Killarney on the Killeen Course. The format is 2 fourballs with the two scores added together. The team is made up of one player 0-11.4, one 11.5-18.4, one played from the Seniors Tour and one player from the Billy O’Sullivan team. Our team of Dan O’Connor and Mike Hayes (41pts) and John Lohan and Pat Dillane (44) won the competitio­n with 85pts. Castleisla­nd cam 2nd with 84pts.
