Build4Life hope for runway success
KERRY Airport will be the venue for a 5K Fun Run in aid of the Build4Llife Cystic Fibrosis Charity on Friday, October 7 th at 8.30pm.
The Kerry Airport run will take place along the two kilometer runway under lights and will offer participants this rare experience and opportunity.
Details of the event, being organised in association with Garvey’s SuperValu and the rugby clubs of West Munster, were launched recently.
“It is hoped to raise a significant sum for this locally based charity which has been to the forefront in raising funds to develop life saving isolation inpatient and outpatient facilities,” said a spokesman for Castleisland Rugby Club – which is promoting the unique event.
“These facilities will benefit both adults and children with CF attending Cork University Hospital which allows them to enter the hospital environment free from the risk of cross infection.
“It’s the first of its kind to take place at Kerry Airport. Similar events have been held previously at Shannon and Knock airports and have been hugely successful.
“The emphasis will be on enjoyment on the night and all fitness levels will be catered for. Participants are being invited to run, jog or walk and it’s all about getting out and doing a little to improving your fitness and staying healthy.
“We are extremely grateful to Kerry Airport for facilitating our event and to the Garvey’s SuperValu Group as our main sponsor.
“We would also like to acknowledge the contributions of Lee Strand and all our local contributors,” the spokesperson concluded. Participants can register online through: www. eventmaster.ie – said the spokesman.
