PARENTS COUNCIL BINGO

Scartaglen National School Parents Council Committee are staging a big Bingo Night at Castleisla­nd Community Centre on Tuesday night September 27 at 8.30pm. This will act as a major fundraiser for Scartaglen National School, there will be at least E4250 worth of prize money to be won on the night as well as spot prizes. The Parents Council Committee and Scartaglen National School would like to see this fundraiser supported by parents and families on the night. All support would be greatly appreciate­d.

GAA LOTTO DRAW

Scartaglin GAA Club’s latest Lotto Draw took place in Lyon’s Bar on Sunday evening September 11. The Jackpot was €6,200 and there was no winner. Numbers drawn were: 1, 2, 17, 23. Consolatio­n prize-winners in the “Lucky Dip” draw were: €40 - Owen O’ Keeffe, Counguilla €30 - Aggie Riordan, Barna, Tim Dineen Gortgloss €20 - Pa Riordan, Ballahanto­urig, Mike Fitzgerald Hillcrest, Dromulton, Bríd Maguire Currow. Next draw will be in Fleming’s Bar on Sunday October 2nd for a Jackpot of €6,400.

HERITAGE CENTRE AGM

The Annual General Meetingof the Committee of Scartaglin Heritage Centre will take place on Tuesday night October 4th @ 8pm in the centre. This is an important meeting and everyone is welcome.

CULTURE NIGHT

Culture Night 2016 was celebrated in The Heritage Centre Scartaglen on Friday evening last in a very enjoyable concert featuring Jackie Daly , Matt Crannitch, Paul Degray, Conor Daly and Maura O Connor took place. There was great music on the night and all present enjoyed themselves.

The 2016-2017 Handed Down series of programmes at The Heritage Centre were launched by Kerry County Council Arts Officer - Kate Kennelly and Councillor Brendan Cronin, Chairman of Killarney Municipal Authority also spoke about Culture Night and its benefits and the importance of preserving our culture and heritage. Organiser PJ Teahan thanked all for attending, the musicians, the hall committee and the O Connor Family , Knockeenah­one for providing lovely refreshmen­ts after the concert. PJ thanked in particular Kerry County Council for their wonderful support of the Handed Down Series. The first Handed Down program of the Winter season will be on Saturday night October 22 (8pm), when Paudie O Connor will present a show entitled “Jerry McCarthy - The Gortgloss Rambler” and this should draw a capacity audience to The Heritage Centre on that night.

RETREAT CENTRE CONTACTS

A gathering of contact people (from parishes in the Diocese of Kerry) who organise Retreat days and evening throughout the year will be held in Ardfert Retreat Centre on Wednesday evening, September 21st from 6pm to 9.30pm. Bishop Ray Browne will celebrate Mass, which will be followed by a buffet. Anyone wishing to attend should inform the Ardfert Retreat Office in advance. Tel No: (066) 7134276.

The Parish Office has revealed the following informatio­n regarding First Holy Communion dates for 2017. Castleisla­nd: Saturday May 6th, Cordal:Saturday May 13th, Scartaglin: Saturday May 20th.

BRIDGE CLASSES
