9- Billy Cour tney has to scramble to prevent a goal for Galway’s Rober t Finner ty who flicks a chance at goal from the right

18- O’Shea directs a pass or a shot for a point that drops just shor t, there and alive to the possibilit­ies is wing-forward Diarmuid O’Connor who gets the slightest of touches to direct the ball to the back of Cormac Halsam’s net

20- Desmond Conneely points a free for Galway to keep them in touch as Kerry threaten to open out a meaningful advantage

22- Shortly afterwards that’s precisely what Kerry do. Dara Moynihan sends a ball towards David Clifford who, much like in the semi-final, fields and gets the ball to David Shaw who finishes to the net with aplomb

23- Galway’s Céin D’Arcy goes on a brilliant run and points a badly needed score for his men to keep Galway within five points of Kerry

28- Shaw points for Kerry to make it a six point game once again. He caught turned and shot elegantly over the bar

SECOND HALF

30- Galway need to hit the ground running at the start of the second half and they do just that. Conneely picked out the inrushing Adam Quirke for a well worked score

31- Galway’s fine star t to the half continues with a second score within sixty seconds with Ryan Forde setting up Rober t Finner ty for a point

36- Kerry, despite Galway’s fine star t to the half, fashion a goal chance for Dara Moynihan, but Cormac Halsam is equal to it

37- Barry Goldrick replaces Evan Murphy on the Galway team

40- Finner ty points a free for Galway

41- Kerry get their first score of the half after eleven minutes of it are played, Diarmuid O’Connor assisting rampaging wing-back Niall Collins for a point from play

42- Sean O’Shea fields a kick-out wonderfull­y, goes on a brilliant run and seems to have pointed... but Hawkeye has different ideas

43- Ryan Forde points from play as Galway continue to chase Kerry down. It’s now a three point game

44- Dara Moynihan points from play to give Kerry back a little breathing room

52- David Clifford picks up a ball on the Cusack Stand side and heads straight for goal. Brushing off a couple of defenders as his makes his away closer to go he strikes off his right and finds the back of the net. A brilliant individual effor t wor thy of any All Ireland

58- Rory Cunningham points a free. It’s back to a four point game again

60 (+5) - Galway have a late effor t for goal saved on the line by the ever reliable Graham O’Sullivan (left)

60 (+6) - Cormac Linnane points to give Kerry a six point advantage / Stefan Okunbor replaces clubmate Diarmuid O’Connor

60 (+7) - Seán O’Shea points a last minute free to wrap up a seven point victory for Kerry Full-time: Kerry 3-7 Galway 0-9
