The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
New year for Killarney Camera Club starts with open night at Killarney Heights
A NEW year is in the offing for Killarney Camera Club, and the group is extending an invite to its open night at 7.30pm tomorrow night, September 29, at the Heights Hotel.
According to club PRO Billy Horan, nearly all of the club’s members are amateur photographers, and some are relatively new to the game.
The group’s aim is to help you improve your photography, but its focus on fun never wavers. “We’re a welcoming bunch!” Billy says. “We’ve a wide range of activities, including regular visits to places of beauty or interest, and we often team up with other photography clubs on trips away”
“We also attend major events, like the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle, and some of our best photographs have appeared in public exhibitions, so there’s plenty incentive to come along on the night.”
The club will gather at the Killarney Heights every two weeks until June, and club nights include presentations from successful photographers, displays of work by members, and demonstrations on using equipment.
Billy extends the warmest of welcomes for anyone who’s interested in taking part.
“If you’ve a camera and enjoy taking photographs, you can get involved too. You’ll be most welcome”, he says.
