SKETCHERS NATIONAL CUP U-13 ROUND 1
MASTERGEEHA made the trip to Ballymackey a winning one in the opening round of the Sketchers U13 Cup. The defeated the home side 4-1 with the goals coming from Oran Dwyer, Oisin O’Leary, Dara O’Callaghan and Ryan Daly.
The news was not as good for the other teams involved at this age group. A Ryan Scanlon Newstead goal was only a consolation as Dingle Bay Rovers lost out 3-1 away to Carew Park. The two Kerry Celtic’s went out by the odd goal in 7.
Listowel Celtic were defeated 4-3 at Corbally United with Robert Stack (2) and Aoife Horgan being their scorers.
Killarney Celtic and Lough Derg finished 3-3 after normal time. William Harry, Ceryson Dauter and Sean Fitzgerald got the goals for the Killarney side. But Lough Derg won the game with a goal in the second period of extra-time.
SKETCHERS U-15 NATIONAL CUP ROUND 1
THE all Kerry clash of Killarney Celtic and The Park turned out to be a cracker with Killarney Celtic coming back from 3-0 down to win 5-4. Goals from Mervyn Shalemba, Colin Walsh and Sean McGrath put the Tralee side in the driving seat after 15 minutes.
Terry Sparling pulled a goal back before half time and early in the second half two Daniel Okute goals levelled matters. Shalemba scored his second to put the Park back in the lead but Jack O’Connor netted the equaliser, his first goal for the club. And then James Darmody hit what turned out to be the winner with 15 minutes to go.
The second all Kerry clash was in Murt Scott Park and the home side knocked out Killarney Athletic 5-1. On the mark for the home side were Craig O’Sullivan-Boyle (2), Jason Brennan (2) and Nathan O’Callaghan.
Tralee Dynamos also came from behind in their 5-3 away win at Murroe, just outside Limerick. Philip Evans scored inside 10 minutes cancelling out the Murroe lead within two minutes of going behind. The home side re-took the lead before half time and then went 3-1 ahead. But Dynamos trusted in their skills and two goals each by Sean Kennedy and Leo Gaxha gave the Tralee side a comfortable 2-0 win.
Killorglin enjoyed a great win away to Lough Derg thanks to a Jack O’Leary hat trick, 2 from Gearoid Hassett and one from Stephen O’Loughlin.
Camp Juniors progressed without ever kicking a ball as they got a walk-over from Ballymackey.
Listowel Celtic had the toughest pathway through going all the way to penalties after a dramatic end to their game away at Knockainey. Darragh Lynch hit two and Conor Hogan got one to see the game end 3-3 after extra time.
Into penalty shout out and it was the North Kerry lads that held their nerve to win 4-3 after the spot kicks. Darragh Lynch, Michael Fogarty, Aodain Behan and Conor Hogan were all successful with their penalties to send Listowel Celtic through.
