Kilmoyley retain title after replay victory
KILMOYLEY retained the Garvey’s SuperValu County Senior Hurling Championship title after last Saturday’s replayed final, at Austin Stack Park before an attendance of 2,745, when they defeated Ballyduff by 1-18 to 2-13. This was Kilmoyley’s 24th title and puts them joint top in the SHC Roll of Honour with Ballyduff.
Team captain, Aiden McCabe, received Corn Neilus Ó Floinn from Patrick O’Sullivan, Cathaoirleach Choiste Contae Chiarrai, C.L.G. while the Man of the Match Award went to the Kilmoyley centre forward Shane Brick – his fourth time to receive this accolade, having done so previously in the finals of 2001, 2003 and 2004.
Kilmoyley now compete in the Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship on the weekend of November 6 away against the Clare or Limerick Intermediate champions.
During the interval on Saturday, Kerry’s All-Ireland Minor ‘B’ five in-a-row winning team were presented to the crowd.
U-21 CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINALS
The following fixtures have been made for the semi-finals of the Acorn Life County Under 21 hurling championship: St. Brendan’s v Crotta at Kilmoyley and Kilmoyley v Lixnaw at Abbeydorney. Both these games are fixed for Saturday, October 8 at 4pm.
JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
The County Junior hurling championship final between Duagh and Austin Stacks is down for decision on this Saturday in the John Mitchels Complex with a 2pm throw-in.
