What judges said about our gold medal recipients
Listowel:and one“It is of importantthe things to that take impressedstock and reflectyour on adjudicatoryour achievementswas seeing two ladies, for several mornings in a row at 7am, watering the floral displays in the town using an inventive device to allow them to reach the higher displays. It is this type of dedication and spirit upon which this competition is built.
Tralee: “All the parks in Tralee were just lovely and your adjudicator cannot speak highly enough of how you manage your open spaces – from the large town park to the river bank at Ballymullen/Killerisk. So well done to the volunteers from your ‘Inspired’ community groups for their efforts. It was your adjudicator’s first visit into Tralee’s Town Park which was exemplary.” Kenmare: “Kenmare is a wonderful place to explore and tourist were seen enjoying not just the main thoroughfares but also the back alleys, town parks, woodlands and shore areas. All are parts of Kenmare where you have worked hard to raise the standards appropriately. You proudly display your plethora of medals in the AIB window – and your sustained efforts should ensure you should have more to add to this in the near future.” Sneem: “Fifty years or more going strong in this competition and visiting Sneem you see the results of decades of effort. You certainly have a geographical advantage with your spectacular setting but it is sustained effort and innovation that has resulted in Sneem advancing itself so well in this competition. Best of luck with your continued efforts.”
Killarney: “The Tidy Towns psyche has indeed permeated most aspects of life and organisations in Killarney. ‘Ní neart go cur le cheile – working together we can achieve so much more’ is a great motto for Killarney and you have achieved and maintained a great course in your 27 years within this national competition. It was a delight to explore Killarney and to read of your endeavours this year. One highlight for your adjudicator was that 1977 people made a world record by hugging trees in Killarney in 2016!”
