Triathlon club seeks members

-

If you are looking to get fit and active this year and to get involved in a new sport or club, then now is your opportunity with the launch of Tralee Triathlon Club’s New to Triathlon information night which takes place on October 12.

The information evening is being organised by the club to encourage more people to try out the sport of triathlon and become part of one of Kerry’s fastest growing clubs.

The club, which was first founded in 2009, now has more than 200 members, and it is hoped that this will continue to grow this year.

A new junior triathlon club has also been set up with the ultimate aim of introducing children to the sport of triathlon. This club is only opened to siblings of members or to children whose parents or grandparents are members of the club.

The information evening takes place at The Rose Hotel from 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 12 and members will be on hand to explain all about triathlon.

Information will be provided on the three disciplines involved, swimming, cycling and running and various triathlon distances - Try a Tri, sprint, Olympic, middle distance or long distance.

The club will outline the training available in each discipline and the coaches who work with the club.

There will also be a talk and showcase on the equipment needed for triathlon and club members will talk about their experience with the club and completing their own triathlon goals.

A question and answers session will also be held for anyone with queries.

Organiser of the New to Triathlon Night, Adrienne White, joined the club this year and says it was the best thing she ever did.

“I have had a great year with Tralee Triathlon Club and I have improved all three sports. There is a great social aspect to the club as well as training. I couldn’t even swim when I joined and last Saturday I did my first sprint distance triathlon,” said Adrienne.
