Barking mad about the Lotto
ON the night of Monday, September 26, the Valentia Young Islanders GAA Jackpot, which reached €2,000, had to be distributed by means of a series of prizes, if not won. Having not been scooped, prizes to the total value of €1,500 were distributed with the remaining €500 being put in place as a starting prize money point for the following week’s lotto. On the night the first prize on offer amounted to €500 with 10 remaining prizes worth €100 each being distributed.
Congratulations to Joseph Martin Lynch of Chapeltown (Caol) and now domiciled in Cambridge for many years who won €500. Having spent the weekend in Valentia it was a welcome bonus.
Congratulations also to the following who were winners of €100 each: Donal O’Donoghue (Feighmane), Edel O’Sullivan (London and Ballyhearney), Sadie O’Sullivan (Ballyhearney), Maeve Daly (Kilbeg), Daniel Falvey (Australia and Chapeltown), Ross Hildeberg (Birdhill, Tipperary), Patrick O’Donoghue (Chapeltown), Joe Barry (Portmagee and Co- romore), Tadhg Lynch (Lower Ballyhearney), Eileen Healy (Corobeg).
Meanwhile, there exists a very lucky dog in the Rathmore area with regard to GAA lotto wins. ‘Holly’ is owned by Valentia’s Eileen Curran and her husband Pat Joe O’Sullivan of Rathmore. The corgi recently scooped €3,000 in the Glenflesk GAA lotto and prior to that was winner of €2,800 in the Ballydesmond lotto.
The next scoop for the O’Sullivans could well be a significant win in the National Lottery to make it a memorable three-in-a-row for Ireland’s luckiest canine.
Footnote: The corgi originated as a Welsh cattle herding dog breed and is famed for being the preferred breed of Queen Elizabeth II, who owned more than 30 during her reign. Pat Joe, the king of Sliabh Luachra has a long way to go.
