County Final brought forward
KENMARE District’s victory over Austin Stacks last weekend has forced the county board to bring forward the date for the County Senior Football final by a week.
Originally the plan had been to play the showpiece on October 23. Instead it will now be played a week later on October 16. No venue has yet been decided upon for the final, although a revamped Austin Stack Park must be in pole position to host the decider.
With two of Kenmare District’s constituent teams – Kenmare Shamrocks and Templenoe – due to face off in the County Intermediate Final and the necessity of having a team ready for Munster competition on October 30, there is no time in the calendar to play both finals and – in the event of Kenmare District qualifying for the final and, or, a replay – having the traditional free weekend for participating teams before the county final.
The Garveys Supervalu Senior Football Championship semi-finals take place this Sunday in Fitzgerald Stadium with Dingle taking on Dr Crokes at 2pm, followed by Kenmare District against Rathmore at 3:30pm. Extra-time applies in both games in the event of a draw.
The County SFC Final on October 16 will be preceded by County Junior Premier Final betwen Glenbeigh-Glencar and Na Gaeil
The Intermediate Championship Final between Kenmare and Templenoe on October 23 will be preceded by the County Minor Championship Final between East Kerry and Mid Kerry. Times and venue to be decided.
The County Junior Championship Final between Fossa and Beale is scheduled for Saturday, October 15 at a time and venue to be decided.
The Kerry SFC champions will be in action in the Munster Club Championship on the weekend of October 30 away to the Clare champions, Cratloe or Kilmurry/ Ibrickane.
The Kerry intermediate championship winner will play the Tipperary champions in Tipperary on the same weekend.
The Premier Junior winner will be at home to the Waterford champion on November 6 in the Munster junior club championship.
