Austin Stacks retain Junior Hurling title against Duagh

AUSTIN Stacks retained the County Junior Hurling Championsh­ip title. In last Saturday’s final, played at the John Mitchels Complex, they defeated Duagh by 4-8 to 3-5.

Team captain, Andrew Foley, received the trophy from Gerard McCarthy, Oifigeach Iomána Coiste Chontae Chiarraí while the Man of the Match Award sponsored by Ryall Travel Coaches went to the Stacks’ centre forward Paul Daly.

The same teams meet again on Saturday week, October 15, this time in the Division 3 final of the County Hurling League, in Connolly Park at 3pm.

Under 21 championsh­ip

The semi-finals of the Acorn Life Co. Under 21 hurling championsh­ip go ahead on this Saturday, October 8 at 4pm. St. Brendan’s play Crotta at Kilmoyley and Kilmoyley meet Lixnaw at Abbeydorne­y.

Club news

Kilmoyley have received a bye straight to the semi-final of the Munster intermedia­te hurling championsh­ip, fixed for the weekend of 6 Nov. They will play the winners of the Clare v Limerick representa­tives quarter final tie. On Sunday last Kilmoyley added the 2016 North Kerry senior championsh­ip title to their county success with a 0-21 to 0-9 win over St. Brendan’s [This game also doubled up as the 2015 final].

In a County Minor hurling league Division 1B back game played at Ballyduff on Saturday, Kenmare/Kilgarvan had a 4-15 to 2-4 win over the home side.

Tralee Parnell’s annual Awards night will take place on this Friday, October 7 at the Kerins O’Rahillys clubhouse. The Under 6 and 8 awards function will commence at 7pm followed by the older age groups from 8pm. Further details at www.facebook.com/TraleeParn­ellsHurlin­gClub
