THE Allianz Cumann na mBunscol football leagues are up and running since mid September with the school teams from the various districts battling for district titles and places in the county quarter-finals.

In the Division 2 urban North Scoil Eoin Ballonagh defeated last year’s group qualifiers Holy Family while Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn have defeated Ardfert and Caherleahe­en in their opening games in Division 3 Urban North. Ardfert recovered from their first round defeat and overcame Firies who had defeated Caherleahe­en in the opening round.

Mid Kerry Round 1

Kilgobnet NS 4-4 St Joseph’s Castlemain­e 2-9 Glenbeigh NS 7-5 Glounaguil­lagh 4-9 Allianz Cumann na mBunscol 4/5 teacher South Kerry results:

Aghatubrid NS have won their group defeating both St Finian’s, Waterville and Scoil Réalt na Mara, Cromane. In the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol 2 teacher competitio­n Scoil An Clochán, Bréanainn will represent Ciarraí Thiar in the county quarter-finals.

The urban knock-out games will be played over the coming weeks with the finals scheduled for the last week of October.
