Dingle have what it takes to beat Abbeyfeale

-

DINGLE Bay Rovers travel to west Limerick next Saturday evening to play Abbeyfeale United in the quarter-final of the Keane’s Jewellers Munster League Champions Trophy.

They had a great win in the opening round defeating Cork side Park United 6-4 in Dingle a few weeks ago. However, they face a very stern test next Sunday against a formidable Abbeyfeale side who are one of the strongest sides in the Desmond League Premier Division winning the league title for the past two seasons.

They had a very easy passage in the opening round defeating Kilworth from Cork AUL 5-0. Home advantage will be in their favour but Dingle have shown their qualities in this competition and they will hold no fears of their opponents.

After a shaky start in their defence of their Premier A title they have started playing consistently again and they are going into this game at the right time. They are fully aware that nothing short of a top drawer performance will suffice if they are to win this game, but if they perform to their full potential they are capable of coming away with victory.

It should be a close game and if Dingle are on song they could upset the apple cart. If they win they will be away to the winners of Nenagh Celtic v Doolans Cow (Cork and Business League) in the semi-final.

Killarney Celtic are the only Kerry side that have won this competition and they did it in its inaugural year back in the 2011/12 season. The following year St Brendan’s Park got to the final but they went down to Pike Rovers from the Limerick League. Quarter Final Draw One quar ter-final has aleady been played with Carew Park from Limerick defeating Clare side Newmarket Celtic 3-1 Newmarket Celtic (Clare) v Carew Park (Limerick) 1-3 Nenagh Celtic (North Tipperary) v Doolans Cow (Cork B&S Lge) Abbeyfeale United v Dingle Bay Rovers Carrick United (Waterford) v St Michaels (Tipperary)
