Five day ticket now on route 283

-

THE Local Link Kerry Rural Transport Company has introduced five day tickets on its ‘Route 283’ service from Currans, Currow, Kerry Airport, Firies, Ballyfinnane and Farmer’s Bridge to Tralee.

The bus travels six days a week – Monday to Saturday with three inward and two outward journeys each day.

There are daily ticket options for adults, students and children. Five-day tickets are priced as follows: adult is €35; student €25 and child €18. The Free Travel Pass is also accepted on the bus.

This bus service provides travel options for people living in the areas outlined so they can access employment, education, health services or attend social occasions. Passengers can also make onward journeys by bus or train from Farranfore or Tralee.

The bus service is operated by Godley’s Bus Hire for Local Link Kerry.

Local Link Kerry, which was described by one customer this week as ‘A God send to me and people like me,’ currently provides over 120 return services weekly across all of Kerry under the Rural Transport Programme.

These services are being delivered by over 40 local bus operators. Figures from 2015 show that over 131,000 passengers availed of the service.

In addition to Local Link Kerry’s primary role of developing and managing rural transport services, the Local Link office plays an important role as Transport Co-ordination Units are tasked with embedding integration within transport service planning, primarily by co-ordinating travel needs for access to employment, health, social and education opportunities.

“Rural Transport plays a major role in combating isolation and is a model of partnership where key sectors actively engage in planning and developing transport services that ensure equality of access for all,” said Local Link Kerry general manager, Carmel Walsh.

Ms. Walsh also urged people in rural areas who may have identified the need for a public transport service in their area to contact them.
