Beale ready to launch club history

BEALE GAA club has announced the launch of its official history Sand in our Boots: Origins and History of Beale GAA 1898 – 2014.

With 624 pages and over 300 photos Sand in our Boots is the culmination of three years work by the club’s history committee. From the early origins of the club it takes the reader through 117 years of the thrills, spills, highs and lows of a small rural club culminating in the winning of the 2014 North Kerry Championship after a gap of 25 years.

More than a football book it is interspersed with local history and folklore and relates the many ways in which the history of the club is intertwined with that of the local area and people.

The launch takes place in the Cliff House Hotel, Ballybunion, Co Kerry on Saturday, October 29 at 8.30pm. Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, the voice of Gaelic Games will be the main guest on the night and will launch the book.

Eoin ‘Bomber’ Liston and Ogie Moran will also be there and available to autograph the book. Multiple All-Ireland winners with Kerry, they both played their club football with Beale and have each written forewords in the book describing their playing days with Beale and their club memories.
