“THE Wiz” 15th-st 21st April 2007, The Wiz an alternativ­e interopera­tion of The Wizard of Oz. Helena Brosnan played the role of Dorothy, while Darren Mullery played The Wiz. Runner up, Best choreograp­hy: Oliver Hurley. Runner up, best actress in a supporting role: Anne Flood.

“That’s Entertainm­ent” 15th-21st of October 2007.

“Back to the 80’s” 11th - 16th of March. This show saw many new faces taking on leading roles in this ensemble production. Including, Diana Pototski, Mairead Edmonds, Stephen Bulman, Anna Curtin, Tara Horgan and Clodagh Stack.

“That’s Entertainm­ent” 4th-9th of November 2008.

“Titanic” 14th - 19th of April, The show was a sell out even before the opening night performanc­e, a major success for the society. Winner best chorus, this was down to the hard work and dedication of a wonderful choral mistress Sharon Reidy who dedicated herself to the society for 5 years and we at Tralee musical society would like to thank her for all her hard work. 3rd place best overall show, runner up best stage manager: Des Hurley, runner up best male singer: Cormac O’Daly, runner up best technical. The opening night was 97 years to the date that the ill fated titanic sank.

“That’s Entertainm­ent” 6th-11th of October, Chairperso­n: Richard Walsh.

“All Shook Up” 13th-18th of April 2010 was the year Elvis came to town and TMS got all shook up. Clare man, Gary Keane took on the role of Chad, while Tim Landers, Clair Mc Evoy and Rachel Daly were among the leading line-up. Ken Murphy was nominated by his society and was privileged to have won such a prestigiou­s award known as the Mary Kelly unsung hero award at 25 the youngest ever recipient of the award. The choral mistress for this production was Emma Plain.

“That’s Entertainm­ent” 13th- 17th October 2010, Chairperso­n: Veronica Kelly.

“The world amateur premier Michael Collins a musical drama” ”15th-20th of March 2011, Tralee musical society, TMS performed its biggest production in its 25 year history with Brian Flynn’s Michael Collins. Muiris Crowley played the enigmatic Collins, Alan Teahan prorate Harry Boland, Tim Moran (Eamon DeValera), Laura-lee Murphy (Kitty Kiernan), Jack Healy (Joe Emit). The story was narrated by 5 players: Mike Lynch, Bryan Carr, Jackie O’Mahony, Sharon Walsh and Kathryn Smith. The chorus line was filled out with many familiar TMS faces. Due to unpreceden­ted demand we had to run it again on the 28th-1st of December. Winner of best overall show, winner of best director, Oliver Hurley, winner of best actor in a supporting role, Alan Teahan, runner up best actor, Muiris Crowley. Aine Murray deserves a special mention for her work as musical director in this show. Tralee musical society is blessed to have such a talented lady and we are delighted to have her. “That’s Entertainm­ent Christmas special” 2011. “Aida” 25th-29th of April, 2012 2012 TMS Performed the production of Elton John and Tim Rice’s “AIDA” This saw some of our newest and oldest member take to the stage in leading roles. Kathryn Smith played the leading role of AIDA. Kathryn was up for “Best Female Singer”. We also had “Best Stage Management” with Ken Murphy and “Best Visual” which saw our costume Mistress Karen Soffe takes the stage in Killarney for the AIMS Awards “Oliver” 9th to the 14th April 2013 TMS took to the stage to perform Oliver for the second time in its history. This produc-

tion was very special to us as even some of our children chorus 25 years previous took to the stage again this time around as part of the adult chorus. One person in particular is John Drummy; John played the part of the artful dodger 25 years ago and returns to the stage to play the role of Fagan in this production. We here at Tralee Musical Society were delighted to welcome The Bons Secours hospital as our main sponsor. This show saw TMS claim runner-up for “Best Programme” Well done to Emma Quirke and Sean Hanafin. “That’s Entertainm­ent 2013” Whistle Down The Wind 11th to the 16th of March 2014

This year TMS performed a west end hit musical “Whistle Down The Wind” and what a hit it was with our Tralee audiences. This show saw a few new faces into the fold with Niall o Brian and Emma o shea to name but a few. TMS very own Geraldine Heaslip took to the stage at the prestigiou­s AIMS awards and scooped up “Best Ensemble” for our children chorus. We here at TMS are very lucky to have such talented children in our society. This was made extra special as this was Gearldine first year as choral mistress. Other nomination­s on the night include Runner up “Best Male Voice” Alan Teahan, Runner up “Best Actress” Janna Foley, Runner-up “Best Technical” and Runner up “Best Overall Show”. Chairperso­n for this show was Des Hurley “That’s Entertainm­ent 2014” Sister Act A Divine Musical Comedy 2015

TMS this year got all holy and put Sister Act. Sister Act Opened to sell out audiences and delighted Tralee people young and old. This saw well known Tralee personalit­y Jackie o Mahoney take on her dream role “Deloris Van Cartier “Jackie has been a member since 1995 this saw her nominated for “Best Comedienne” which she was Runner up for also we were runner up for “Best Chorus”, runner up “Best Director” Oliver Hurley, runner up “Best overall show” and Winner of “Spirit of AIMS” for technical wizardry in creating stunning effects and bringing mood and atmosphere through complex projection­s was John Hurley. John Hurley has done many production­s with us and we are privileged to have a man of his talent in TMS. “That’s Entertainm­ent 2015” The Beautiful Game 30th of March to the 3rd of April

TMS this year staged The Beautiful Game a look at Northern Irelands troubled past set in the late 1960’s early 1970s. This show saw Gary Murphy take his first leading role with Tralee as well as returning Tralee favourites such as Laura lee Curtain, Tim Moran, Niall o Brian, Mike lynch, Aaron Mclarnon, Jackie Mahoney, Janna Foley and new comer Ryan o Sullivan. The Beautiful Game saw TMS get no less than 6 AIMS nomination­s Tralee’s most successful show to date nomination­s include runner up “Best Programme”, runner up “Best Actress” Laura Lee Curtin, runner up “Best Director” Oliver Hurley, 2ND in “Overall show” and winner of “Best Stage Management” Des Hurley and Winner of “Best Actor” Gary Murphy.

Tralee Musical Society are deeply indebted to the men and women of thirty years ago who dared to dream of a society dedicated to thrilling audiences from far and near with their spectacula­r production­s of song and dance. It is indeed honour to have one of those founder members Peggy Creagh among us to this very day. We would like to take this opportunit­y to thank each and every member and every single person who has contribute­d to TMS success down through the years. It is a testament to the friendship fun and enjoyment the society gives to it members.
