Kilmoyley without Brick for Munster

- BY DAMIAN STACK

KILMOYLEY will have to embark upon their Munster championship journey without the services of talismanic forward Shane Brick manager Fergie O’Loughlin confirmed to The Kerryman this week.

The Clare native confirmed that Brick had only made himself available for the county final and subsequent replay and that it was never intended for him to play a part in the provincial campaign.

“Shane Brick isn’t playing he just made the commitment for the Kerry county final and we’ve to respect that. He’s out,” O’Loughlin said.

Brick isn’t, however, the only loss suffered by the club with both Seán Nolan and Luke Fitzell also ruled out of the game with Monaleen this weekend in the Gaelic Grounds (throw-in 1.30pm, Sunday).

“Seanie Nolan broke his collar bone last week playing Tralee IT in a challenge game so he’s out. Luke Fitzell hasn’t trained since the county final, he had damage to his eye so they’re out, main guys, three players who played in the county final who are definitely out,” O’Loughlin continued.

“They’re three big losses to us, but it gives a chance for somebody else to come in and make a statement.”

On the plus side Kilmoyley did show their ability to shake things up by making changes in the county final replay, hinting at an impressive strength in depth.

“We had two or three changes from the drawn game and I think the two or three changes worked.

“We’re in good form now, we’re looking forward to it. I think we’ll have a right cut off it. I think we won’t be far away if everything goes according to plan.”
