THE Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Div. 4 Urban Final was a ding dong affair between Monastery Killarney and Ardfert. Playing with the wind the Killarney boys led 2-5 to 2-2 at the break.

Centre-forward Eoghan Crowley landed 2-3 from play and placed balls and Dara O’Shea and Matthew Eliaga also added points. Alex Mc Grath opened the scoring for Ardfert with two beautifull­y taken points. Keelan Best struck for goal number one and Fionán Egan fisted the second goal with the Ardfert backs under sustained pressure from a lively Killarney forward unit.

Ardfert got the opening point of the second half from Fionán Egan. The Mon responded with points from Eoghan Crowley and Matthew Eliaga to lead by four. A goal from Eoin O’Flaherty and points from Fionán Egan and captain Fiachra O’Connor saw Ardfert take the lead with ten minutes remaining. The Mon. saw a goal bound shot from Eoghan Crowley parried over the bar with a fine save from Seán O’Connor in the Ardfert goal and the sides were level.

Ardfert finished strongly with excellent performanc­es from Odhrán Ferris, Tom O’Flaherty, Keith O’Mahony and Dónal O’Sullivan.

Fionán Egan pointed and found the net with another fisted effort while Dónal O’Sullivan and Liam Óg Ó Chonchubha­ir landed the insurance points in a frantic finish to hold on. Final score Ardfert 4-8 The Mon. 2-8.
