Kerry audience amazed by local screening of Bertie’s movie ‘Con’
AN award-winning Tralee film-maker has this week expressed thanks to his hometown audience after they showed up in droves to attend an advanced screening of his latest project, a feature film, entitled ‘Con’.
Bertie Brosnan, whose previous films ‘Sineater’ and ‘Jacob Wrestling with Angel’ have been shown at the world-famous Cannes Film Festival, says that he has been blown away by the local reaction to his latest film, calling the screening that took place in Siamsa Tíre on Wednesday evening, ‘the best night’ of his career so far.
“It was honestly amazing! The reaction from the screening last night and through to today, people have been contacting me left, right and centre telling me that they’ve been blown away by the film,” said Bertie, talking to The Kerryman.
“I can’t quite believe how well it has been received.I mean, to get 150 people out on a dark and cold Wednesday night to come down and see your work, you can’t ask for better.”
The film, which tells the tale of successful actor and functioning alcoholic Con Keogh as he leaves rehab and arranges to meet his estranged father for the first time in 25 years, is described as “a drama with moments of dark comedy”.
“It was a lovely crowd;we had around 40 people that stayed behind afterwards for the question session afterwards.
The cast and crew were brilliant and loads of people were asking questions; people were really into the film. I’m very proud of all the work we’ve done, it’s just wonderful,” he finished.
