EAST KERRY MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP: Following a marvellous victory over Rathmore in the earlier round Kilcummin played Currow in the semi-final in Rathmore on Thursday last under lights. This was an enthralling game despite the inclement weather and although we were trailing by 4 points at the final whistle the players can take solace from their fine performance. Goals by David Gleeson and Gearoid Kerins in the first half saw us trailing by 3 points at half time 2-4 to 2-7. Currow were very impressive in the third quarter and added two further goals and some fine points to lead by 4-12 to 2-5 at one stage. However our players put in a massive last 15 minutes scoring 2-7 and conceding just a single point. Gearoid Kerins added a third goal and Conor McCarthy brought the team within a single score but it wasn’t to be and Currow held on to progress to the final. Well done to players and mentors.
