IGB offering tasty Movember deal for race goers

-

THE Irish Greyhound Board is offering a great deal at its tracks for groups of four or more up to November 19. For just €13.95, there will be admission plus race programme, a classic quarter-pounder burger and a house beer, house wine or soft drink.

There will also be a donation of €2.00 (from the €13.95) to Movember, which supports charitable work.

Groups which take up the offer are encouraged to wear false moustaches and, by sharing selfies on social media, prizes can be won, including three €100 Go Greyhound Racing vouchers.

Booking, and further information, is available through www. gogreyhoundracing.ie, though, for those interested in the Tralee package, it should be noted that there is no greyhound racing at the Oakview venue on the last night of the offer, November 19.

Last year, the IGB was able to donate €2,378 to the Movember charity through the €2 contribution and, with huge demand sure to be there in particular for the fantastic Night of Stars programme at Shelbourne Park this Saturday night, the €2,378 figure will surely be exceeded.

The televised coverage of the Shelbourne Park programme is a huge bonus for those turning up at Tralee Track. Eight open races at the Dublin venue, from 350yds to 850yds, will each be worth a magnificent €10,000 to the winners plus trophy, making this night second only to Boylesports Irish Derby Final Night.

It will be absolutely marvellous to see so many flying machines in action and, hopefully, a nice portion of all that dosh will be coming to Kerry, as it did twelve months ago.

We haven’t seen the great Clares Rocket in action for a while, but he clocked 28.15 in a recent 525yds trial at Shelbourne and he followed up last week with a run of 29.37 over 550yds on a wet surface. That certainly says it all about his current well-being.

Clares Rocket was, of course, bred in Kilmoyley by Richard Gentleman and the sire, Confident Rankin, is owned by Jeremiah Kerins, of Castleisland.

Stars like this make Saturday, November 12, such a very special night at headquarters.
