KERRY ATHLETIC SQUAD

Sixty Four young enthusiastic athletes participated in the first day of the Kerry Junior Athletic Development Squad held in An Riocht Track on Sunday 6th November. Athletes from all over Kerry attended and experienced some basic training in the following events. Sprinting, Long Jump, Shot Put, Middle Distance, Turbo Javelin, and High Jump. They all did a full warm up and then rotated through each of the events in the two hour session.

Kerry Athletics County Board will be announcing the next Junior Development Squad session soon and will be delighted to see more athletes attending. As part of the Listowel Food Fair and in conjunction with Kerry Recreation & Sports Partnership, join Derval O’Rourke for a stretching session and also learn about sports nutrition on Fri 11 November 2016 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Listowel Community Centre and Complex. Early booking is advisable as places are limited.

ST STEPHEN’S DAY 5K

Our Annual St. Stephen’s Day 5K Road Race / Fun Run is fast approaching and we have already begun preparations. We are looking for volunteers to help out on the day jsu for a couple of hours. This is the clubs main fundraiser and we appreciate and help.

CLUB TRAINING

Juvenile Indoor Training will be once a week, Thursdays, starting at 7pm in the Sports Hall, Farranfore. €2 per session. Any juveniles who will be competing in the Munster & National Cross Country Championships will have their endurance / interval session at the same time (7pm) outside on the GAA field.

Cardiorespiratory, Strength, Endurance & Flexibility Exercise Class every Tuesday @ 7pm indoors at Farranfore Sports Hall, Coached by Maria McCarthy, this programme is designed to improve all the components of fitness that constitute physical fitness of an individual.

Secondary School/Junior / Senior training every Thursday starts at 6:40pm in GAA grounds Farranfore. This is endurance training for cross country preparation. €2 club member, €4 non club member.
