Killorglin make it five wins from five with win in Neptune

KEANES SuperValu nKillorgli­n made in five wins out of five on Saturday when they overcame Neptune in Cork by four points in a pulsating match. Neptune started stronger going ahead by five points within the first minute. Andrew Fitzgerald was first to find the basket, Garny Garcia followed clearing six points and a three from Declan Wall brought the scores to one point difference with 5.40 on the clock.

Garny was fouled and with score good and free throw made it was first time that KSV went ahead with just over five minutes on the clock. KSV kept Neptune at 14 points extending their own lead by 16 points, with scores from Kev Grey, Daragh Jones, Saulius and Garny Garcia with no score from Neptune until 40 seconds remaining in the first quarter it finished Keanes SV 30 Neptune 16.

It was Neptune again who opened the scoring and managed to whip up 7 points unanswered by Keanes, following a time out with 7.5 minutes on the clock it took another basket from Neptune before Andrew Fitzgerald opened for Keanes. Adding to our scores were Kev Grey, Garny, Saulius - with two minutes to half time Keanes SV were ahead 40 to 29. Two more baskets from Garny and free throws from Kev Grey the first half finished 34 to 46 Keanes ahead

Third quarter again it was Neptune who were first to clear but a quick three from Kev Grey put Keanes Supervalu ahead 38 to 49 defence faltered slightly for Keanes SV and following a time out Neptune closed the gap to 4 points. A 2 from Darragh Jones and Seamus Brosnan being fouled and coverting his free throws we pulled away again 45 to 53. With Darragh Jones on form adding two more and a three from Kev Grey Neptune were left behind 45 to 60. Following a Neptune time out they brought the score back to 6 the third quarter finished 56 to 62.

Declan Wall opened the final quarter with a great steal to help Garny with a score and another from Andrew Fitzgerald Keanes went 10 points clear. Neptune followed with two threes unanswered bringing it back to 4, Daragh Jones added for Keanes and a block from Garny, a foul on Ian converting one free throw but Neptune replied bringing it back to 5 points difference. Declan Wall’s game was over following his 5th foul with just under 5 minutes to full time.

Baskets were traded and with 1.14 on the clock Neptune were only behind by 2. A score for each side and Garny missing two free throws we were still only one score ahead when Neptune had possession and 8.7 seconds on the clock Kev Grey stole the ball forcing the foul and converting his two free throws - the game finished Keanes winning 80 to 76.
