Battle of Celtics in FAI Junior Cup

-

MUNSTER JUNIOR CUP FOURTH ROUND (Kerry/Clare/Desmond section; winners advance to last 64 open round draw)

THREE Kerry sides take the county flag into the fourth round of the FAI Junior Cup next Sunday bidding to make it to the last 64 in the national competition.

Because there is an all Kerry clash between Listowel Celtic and Killarney Celtic one side will definately go through but alas one side will be going out also.

The winners on Sunday will go forward to the last 64 open draw which is a very exciting prospect for the teams involved.

The Dingle Bay Rovers v Avenue United game has been put back to Sunday, November 20 and it will be played at the Mounthawk Park all weather pitch.

Listowel Celtic v Killarney Celtic

The battle of the Celts is at Pat Kennedy Park on Sunday and Killarney will go into the game as favourites.

Home advantage will be a big asset for Listowel who as a rule don’t lose too many matches in their home patch.

However Killarney Celtic are a few formidable outfit this year with a good blend of youth and experience and they should shade this one.

The two sides will be meeting again at Celtic Park on Sunday week in the Kerry area semi final of the Munster Junior Cup.

Verdict: Killarney Celtic

Killarney Athletic v Abbeyfeale United

Killarney Athletic face a very strong Desmond League side Abbeyfeale United at Woodlawn who put Dingle Bay Rovers out of the Champions League Trophy in extra time a few weeks ago.

However Athletic have got a new lease of life this season under new manager Stuart Templeman and won’t have any fear of their more illustrious opponents.

I saw Abbeyfeale beat Dingle a few weeks ago and I think they may have too much in the tank for Athletic on this occasion.

Verdict: Abbeyfeale United
