Skellig Rangers 0-13 Dromid 2-7 after extra time Skellig Rangers opened the scoring with a free from Ciaran Keating on the 3rd minute , on the 9th minute Dromid were on the attack but Diarmaid Keating made a great intercepti­on and laid the ball off to Ronan O Shea who put the ball straight over the bar making it 0-2 to 0-0 to Skellig Rangers. In the 12th minute Dromid got there first score from a free by Niall O Shea and 4 minutes later Cathal Nolan tapped over a free from 13 yards out making it 0-2 to 0-2 with 16 minutes gone. It was nip and tuck with both sides intercepti­ng ball each time they came within the 22 yard line . Seamus O Sullivan was storming the middle of the field with the braking balls he was winning which proved crucial for Skellig Rangers.In the 24th minute Ciaran Keating scored a phenomenal point from 40 yards out putting Skellig up by 1 point. Ciaran Keating added a free in the 30th minute leaving the half time score 0-4 to 0-2 in favour of Dromid. Dromid opened the scoring 5 minutes into the 2nd half with a free from Niall O Shea , Skellig Rangers Diarmaid Keating scored a fine point from play on the 9th minute making it a 2 point game again. Skellig Rangers were solid as a rock in the defence with Stephen O Sullivan (Ardcost) Stephen O Sullivan (The Glen) and Gerard O Sullivan turning over the balls on numerous occasions and Dromid still hadn’t kicked a point from play yet in the game. Dromid tapped over a free on the 14th minute by Chris Farley but yet again Skellig Rangers went up the field and Diarmaid Keating once again put the ball over the bar from 45 yards out leaving the score 6-4 with 15 minutes left to play. Dromid again tapped over a free in the 17th minute making it a one point game again. Skellig Rangers replaced Martin O Sullivan and Mikey Keating in the 18th minute and introduced Michael O Sullivan and Brian Hickey. Straight away the two of them made an impact with Michael O Sullivan putting the ball over from 20 yards out and Brian Hickey followed it with a fine point with his weaker leg from an acute angle leaving the score 8-5 with 10 minutes to go. The game was still in the melting pot and Dromids Chris Farley registered there first score from play in the 27th minute leaving it a two point game again. Dromids Denis Shine O Sullivan made a run in from the sideline and tried to punch the ball over the bar but it hit off the post and then the crossbar and landed beautifull­y to Thomas Curran who was there to slot it home putting Dromid up 1 point. The excitement of the closing minutes was frighting as no one knew which way it was going to go, Diarmaid Keating took on his man in the dying seconds and won a free for Skellig Rangers . All the pressure was on Ciaran Keating who had to put the ball over the bar from a very tight angle to force extra time, Ciaran had nerves of steel and put the ball over the bar leaving the full time score 1-6 to 0-9. Skellig Rangers would not give up and neither would Ronan O Shea at centre foward and Bernard Walsh at centre back turning over balls and keeping Skellig Rangers in touch with Sean Courtney , Michael O Sullivan and Ciaran Keating putting 3 consecutiv­e points over the bar putting them up by 3 points 1-6 to 0-12 with 7 minutes gone in the first half of extra time. Dromid got a point in the 8th minute when Dominic O Sullivan scored a cracking point with the outside of the boot leaving the score 1-7 o 0-12. On the 9th minute again the braking point in the game came when Kerry Minor Graham O Sullivan burst through the Skellig Rangers defence and hand passed the ball across the goal and Kealan Farley was there to tap it in putting Dromid 1 up at half time of extra time. Skellig Rangers defence again in the second half of extra time were immense keeping Dromid scoreless. With 1 minute left of normal time in extra time Skellig Rangers won a free 40 yards out from goal. Yet again Skellig Rangers were praying for Ciaran Keating to put the ball over the bar to keep them in the game and he stepped up and answered the prayers and forced a replay next Saturday in Portmagee leaving the full time score 2-7 to 0-13. It must be said both sides never gave up when they went down and it showed great heart and determinat­ion by the two clubs. What a thriller it was. 2016 South Kerry Talent ShowSkelli­g Rangers GAA club will host the first ever South Kerry Talent Show this November. The event will take place at The Ring of Kerry Hotel in Cahercivee­n on Friday November 25th. Over 16 acts from South Kerry GAA Clubs will participat­e on the night in the hope of winning a cool €1000 for their GAA club. 3 secret celebrity judges on the night will choose the over all winner and give their feedback as the show progresses.

The event will start at 8.30pm. Drama groups, singers, dancers and many other talented performers from all across the South Kerry area will compete in what will be a thrilling evening of entertainm­ent. Local comedian Bernard Casey will keep the audience laughing as he is set to provide the entertainm­ent during the interval break. Admission on the door €10.
