HUGHES’ BAR Noisy Neighbours’ group members are busily growing their moustaches for their big shave off the coming Saturday night, November 26th at 9.30pm at the Cordal emporium of sociability and fun.

So far it’s a ‘men only’ line-up – but God is good.

Since its formation in 2011, the group has raised over €49,600 which has been divided between Cancer Research and other charities including Kerry/Cork Health Link Bus and the Kerry Hospice Foundation. Last year alone they managed to raise €15,642.

The Noisy Neighbours group came about from a conversation among a group of men in the bar on a winter’s Sunday evening in 2011. It has grown, like the seasonal, facial hair, from strength to strength every year since.

This year the group has over 20 men taking part in Saturday night’s event and the money raised will be divided between Movember Ireland Cancer Research; the Kerry/Cork Health Link Bus and the Oncology Unit in University Hospital Kerry.

It is important for the group that the money raised is kept locally too.

“We are, once again, asking people to please dig deep and support the lads on their Movember journey. People have always been so generous,” said campaign spokesperson, Moira Hughes.

“Unfortunately too many people have been affected by cancer or know someone who has. The Shave-Off night which will be held in the bar on Saturday night is always a fantastic occasion of fun.

“We have fabulous spot prizes, auctions and finger food while we’re raising much needed funds for our chosen charities.

“The night also allows men to chat and highlight the importance of early detection and regular check ups which is vital.

“So come along on this Saturday night and join in the effort to raise as much as we can for these wonderful charities,” said Moira in conclusion.
